The “Negro Motorist Green Book” was an annual guide for African American travelers published between 1936 and 1964. Over its 28 years, it included 327 listings for North Carolina, including 14 in Greensboro.

Learn about the effort to document the sites advertised as safe spaces for African American travelers during racial segregation and ways community members can get involved in the NC Green Book Project. A program of the NC African American Heritage Commission in partnership with the International Civil Rights Center & Museum and Greensboro History Museum.
