GreenHill Summer Camps | Register Today!

Summer Camps at GreenHill provide the perfect nurturing environment to inspire creativity and learning for curious kids of all ages. Small group sizes, experienced facilitators, access to GreenHill’s galleries and studios make each day a fun-filled adventure. Week-long camps are themed and geared towards ages 4 years to rising 6th graders. Camp is $125 per camper unless noted otherwise. SWEET | Opening Reception and First Friday

Join us for the opening reception of SWEET with live music by The Minor Swing Band from 6:30-7:30 PM. Party like it's 1939 with Triad-based band members Keith Buckner, Jim Carson, Kevin Dollar who perform gypsy jazz influenced by Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli across North Carolina.  Suggested donation for entry. Adult Workshop | Alcohol Painting

Alcohol paint looks similar to watercolor, but dries faster, and offers a vibrant variation of color and textures.  As we explore the alcohol painting process, participants will experiment with different techniques and tricks to make one-of-a-kind pieces.  Participants may bring abstract or floral images to reference.  Bring your own food and drinks.  Cost is $35 and space is limited. Friday Night Studios | Focus on Food

Join us for Friday Night Studios for health and nutrition workshops; create “my-plate” plates that will be decorative but will also function as a guide for creating a balanced meal, participate in Food Fonts, a project created by Kristen Baumlier, inviting participants to create letters using real food. In collaboration with Guilford County Cooperative Extension agents, participate in food preparation and cooking demonstration and provide nutrition education handouts to participants. Admission is “Pay what you wish.”

SWEET | Art & Dialogue: Designer Foods

Nearly 60% of an American’s daily calories come from food that contains ingredients such as flavors, colors, sweeteners and hydrogenated oils, emulsifiers and other additives. Join GreenHill for a mock tasting trial to see how good your palate is with scientist Dan Heck.  Participants will learn more about how manufacturers utilize research to “design” flavors for foods such as soda, pizza and chocolate. Suggested donation for entry. Campers will take a whimsical journey through their own artistic version of the game. 3-d lollipops, sweets-inspired clay sculptures, abstract paintings using the Candy Land color palette, and we’ll even create our own edible art! This sweet week will end by playing a life-sized version of Candy Land!
