Campers will get a smorgasbord of opportunity to learn fiber arts such as weaving and hand-sewing, paper crafts including origami, printmaking, bookmaking and more! Self-selected works of art to be displayed in our Camp Gallery at the end of the week.

4 YEARS – RISING K Inspired by GreenHill’s “Sweet” exhibition and the all-round children’s favorite game “Candy Land”, this camp is sure to entice! Campers will take a whimsical journey through their own artistic version of the game. 3-d lollipops, sweets-inspired clay sculptures, abstract paintings using the Candy Land color palette, and we’ll even create our own edible art! This sweet week will end by playing a life-sized version of Candy Land!

4TH – 6TH An adventure in paint for the young artist who wants to try it all! Campers will create works with watercolor, tempera and acrylic paints whil learning about the cultural origins of artists such as Van Gogh, Monet, Picasso. Creative projects such as abstract splatter paintings, watercolor landscapes, and painting without a paintbrush will introduce campers to both traditional and alternative painting techniques. Campers will create a portfolio of works to keep at the end of the week.

North Carolina artists are invited to present 15 images of their artwork during a 5 minute slideshow and get feedback from GreenHill’s Director of Curatorial & Artistic Programs, Edie Carpenter, and other arts professionals. GreenHill uses the pecha kucha format, a simple presentation format in which each artist presents 15 images of their work with 20 seconds of dialogue for each slide.
